A liraglutide tracker for Saxenda and Victoza

A daily injection, a pen that expires 30 days after first use, and a restart rule after three missed days. The log is what keeps it straight.

Liraglutide is the molecule in Saxenda, approved for weight management in adults and children from 12, and Victoza, approved for type 2 diabetes in adults and children from 10. It was the first GLP-1 approved for weight loss. Its half-life is about 13 hours, which is why it is injected every day rather than every week. In the main Saxenda trial, people lost 7.4 percent of their body weight over 56 weeks against 3.0 percent on placebo. The liraglutide compound page covers the drug; this page covers the log.

The Saxenda schedule

Saxenda dose escalation, from the label
PeriodDoseNotes
Week 10.6 mg once dailyStarting dose
Week 21.2 mg once daily
Week 31.8 mg once daily
Week 42.4 mg once daily
Week 5 on3 mg once dailyMaintenance dose

If a step is not tolerated, the label allows holding it for about one more week. At 16 weeks, the label tells prescribers to stop Saxenda if weight has not fallen by at least 4 percent, because later loss is unlikely. That makes the first 16 weeks of weights the most important numbers in the log.

The Victoza schedule

If needed, after at least a week1.8 mg once dailyMaximum dose

Missed a dose

Skip it and take the next dose at the usual time. Do not double up. If more than 3 days have passed since the last dose, both labels say to restart at 0.6 mg and climb the ladder again, to limit nausea. A log with dates makes the 3 day count a lookup rather than a guess.

The pen

Saxenda and Victoza come in multi-dose pens that dial the dose. Once a pen is first used it lasts 30 days, at room temperature or in the fridge, and then goes in the bin even if there is drug left. Log the date of first use in the vial row and the app counts the 30 days down alongside the doses left.

Setting it up in Peptide AI

  1. Add Liraglutide from the compound library. The unit and the daily schedule are already set.
  2. Enter the titration your prescriber gave you. The app shows which week of which step you are on and when the next step is due.
  3. Add the pen or vial, with doses remaining and the expiry date. A refill reminder fires at three doses left.
  4. Set a daily reminder at the time you inject. A daily drug is mostly a streak, and the streak is what slips.
  5. Log each dose when you take it, with the site. Notes for side effects go on the dose.

What the timeline shows

The free log holds the daily dose, the pen, the notes and the food. Premium adds weight, sleep and heart rate from Oura, WHOOP, Garmin, Apple Health or Health Connect, and bloodwork from a PDF, so the 16 week weight check and HbA1c sit against the dates on each step.

Logging on Peptide AI is free, and that includes GLP-1s. The dose log, the titration schedule, vials with doses remaining, injection sites with a rotation reminder, nutrition, supplements and training are all on the free tier with no card. Premium adds bloodwork, Oura, WHOOP, Garmin, Apple Health and Health Connect on the same timeline, the body scanner and Remi, the coach that answers from your own log. The pricing page has the three plans.

Questions people ask

Is there a free Saxenda tracker?

Yes. Peptide AI logs Saxenda and Victoza free on iOS and Android, with the daily ladder, the pen and its 30 day clock, and reminders. Labs and wearables on the same timeline are Premium.

What is the Saxenda dosing schedule?

0.6 mg daily in week 1, then 1.2, 1.8 and 2.4 mg in weeks 2 to 4, and 3 mg daily from week 5. The label says to stop if weight has not fallen at least 4 percent by week 16.

What if I miss liraglutide for more than 3 days?

Both the Saxenda and Victoza labels say to restart at 0.6 mg daily and climb the ladder again, to reduce nausea and other stomach side effects. Your prescriber sets the pace.
