GLP-2, the other glucagon-like peptide
GLP-2 shares a gene with GLP-1 and almost nothing else. It works on the gut lining, not appetite. Here is what it does and the drugs built on it.
GLP-1 and GLP-2 are cut from the same precursor in the same gut cells, but they act on different receptors and do different jobs. GLP-1 drugs are about blood sugar and appetite. GLP-2 drugs are about the intestine itself, and the approved one treats short bowel syndrome. These pages keep the two apart.
